New Nickelback
Friday 09-05-2008 8:58am ET
Nickelback have set November 18th as the release date for their as-yet-untitled new album. They just finished working on the disc in Vancouver, Canada with producer Mutt Lange (A-C/D-C, Def Leppard) in time to start their European tour Monday in Germany. The first single, "If Today Was Your Last Day," will hit the airwaves on September 30th.
Rage Acapella
Thursday 09-04-2008 8:55am ET
Rage Against the Machine played their show last night at the Target Center in Minneapolis to coincide with the Republican National Convention. But the night before, the band showed up at the State Capitol, where they planned to stage a surprise show -- but arrived too close to the curfew and weren't allowed to play. What they decided to do instead was lead a crowd of about 200 in a Rage Against the Machine sing-a-long -- a cappella style. Zack de la Rocha and Tom Morello shared a megaphone to bang out "Bulls on Parade" and "Killing in the Name Of."
Cool website
Wednesday 09-03-2008 8:31am ET
Collective Soul guitarist Dean Roland has put his years of experience on the road into a new site that pinpoints the best places to go out on the five nights of the week other than Friday and Saturday. Roland and two friends launched www.sneakysunday.com in Atlanta last year, and now the site has expanded to provide listings for 80 cities around the U-S. Roland says the site is named after one of his co-founder's phrases to describe going out "on a school night" and that they hatched they idea while drinking at an Atlanta bar on a Sunday night.
Kid Rock not on Itunes
Tuesday 09-02-2008 9:17am ET
Kid Rock refuses to make his music available for download on I-Tunes, but that hasn't stopped his Rock 'N Roll Jesus from becoming one the best-selling albums of the year. The disc is currently at number-two on Billboard's Top 200. Rock says he doesn't like what technology has done for the music biz. He tells Billboard, "Do not ever come up to me and say, 'This is what everyone's doing and how they're doing it.' I remember being a kid when I heard a song that I liked -- I would jump on the bus, ride to Detroit, get a two-dollar-50-cent transfer and walk a mile to the hip-hop store." For the record, though Rock 'N Roll Jesus won't be available on I-Tunes, it will come to Amazon, Rhapsody and other online stores.

Kid Rock recently recorded a track called "Warrior" for a new National Guard commercial.

What do Metallica & Oasis have in common?
Friday 08-29-2008 9:24am ET
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich says he hasn't used cocaine in a few years and credits Noel Gallagher of Oasis for helping him kick the habit. Lars tells music website TheQuietus.com "I was very impressed with Noel Gallagher. As you know, I'm an Oasis fanatic, and Noel was like, 'You know what? No more cocaine,' and I thought, 'If he can do it, everybody else can do it.' I had my fun with it, it was always more of a social thing. We were never like rolling around and spending days in bathroom stalls, and peeking out the keyholes of doors for days."
